About Rogue Receptor

Making the invisible visible since 2026

Your doctor knows your prescriptions. Your health store knows your supplements. But nobody is looking at both lists together. That gap is where hidden interactions live — and where Rogue Receptor works.

Why we built this

The average American takes 4 prescription medications and 3 dietary supplements every day. That's 7 substances entering the same body, interacting with the same receptors, competing for the same absorption pathways — and in most cases, nobody has checked whether they play well together.

We didn't build Rogue Receptor because we think doctors are doing it wrong. We built it because the system isn't set up for this conversation. A 15-minute doctor's appointment barely covers your prescriptions. Supplements don't come up. Timing doesn't come up. The fact that your morning coffee blocks 60% of your iron absorption doesn't come up. The fact that your Metformin has been quietly depleting your B12 for three years doesn't come up.

Rogue Receptor makes those invisible things visible.

What makes us different

We check what others don't

Most interaction checkers only handle drug-drug interactions. We check drugs against supplements, supplements against supplements, drugs against foods, and — most importantly — we flag the nutrients your prescriptions are silently depleting. That last category is where the biggest surprises hide.

We tell you what to do, not just what's wrong

Finding an interaction is only half the job. The other half is telling you, in plain English, what to actually do about it. Move your iron to 2pm. Take your Vitamin C with it. Wait 4 hours after your thyroid medication before taking calcium. Rogue Receptor gives you a specific, actionable daily timeline — not a scary warning and a "consult your doctor."

We don't scare you

Health information online is designed to frighten. Rogue Receptor is designed to inform. Our three-level alert system — all clear, worth knowing, and talk to your doctor — gives you proportionate, calm, actionable guidance. Most interactions aren't emergencies. They're timing problems, absorption conflicts, or missed supplements. We treat them accordingly.

Our results aren't influenced by who pays us

Our interaction analysis and severity ratings are completely independent of any commercial relationship. We earn revenue from optional premium subscriptions, display advertising on free pages, and affiliate commissions when users purchase recommended products. None of these relationships influence what our analysis engine reports. A dangerous interaction is flagged as dangerous regardless of whether someone is paying us to feature a product.

Our data sources

Rogue Receptor's intelligence is built on established, peer-reviewed medical data sources:

  • NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD) — the most comprehensive database of dietary supplement label information in the United States, maintained by the National Institutes of Health.
  • OpenFDA — the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's open access to FDA datasets, including adverse event reports, drug labeling, and recall data.
  • DrugBank Open Data — a comprehensive database of detailed drug data with drug-drug and drug-target interaction information.
  • USDA FoodData Central — the USDA's food and nutrient data system, used for our food interaction analysis.
  • Peer-reviewed medical literature — we cross-reference our interaction data with published studies from PubMed and other medical databases.

Our commitment to accuracy

Health information carries real consequences. We take accuracy seriously:

  • Every interaction in our database is cross-referenced against at least two independent data sources
  • Our severity ratings are conservative — we would rather flag a potential interaction for discussion than miss one
  • We clearly label the strength of evidence behind each interaction (well-established, probable, possible, theoretical)
  • We update our database regularly as new research is published
  • When we don't know, we say so — "insufficient data" is a valid and honest result

What we are not

Transparency requires us to be clear about our boundaries. Rogue Receptor is an educational tool. We are not doctors, pharmacists, or healthcare providers. We do not diagnose conditions, prescribe treatments, or provide clinical advice. Our information should complement — never replace — the guidance of qualified healthcare professionals.
